Happy International Women’s Day! This celebration is intended to amplify women’s achievements AND call for gender equality. This day (in addition to Women’s History Month) is an opportunity to honor the contributions women have been making...for decades. How can we get more involved? For starters…we interviewed 5 incredible female founders and hope you take a moment to learn more about them and support the companies they're building!
We welcome you celebrating International Women’s Day in your own creative ways, too!
Kim Pham, Co-Founder of Omsom:
What your current biggest challenge is:
Continuing to prioritize work-life balance - this is especially hard (and important!) when you’re working on something so deeply aligned with your values + passion. It becomes really difficult to draw healthy boundaries when it feels so personal.
What your biggest reward has been:
It is the greatest honor to build this beautiful community by and for Asian Americans. It is the space content, + universe that I so badly needed as a first-gen Vietnamese-American growing up in Boston.
Something you’d tell your younger self:
Everything that makes you “weird” is what makes you perfectly wonderful. Lean into all the ways in which you are perceived to be different - these insights + perspectives will become the key to your creativity + get you closer to your true, authentic self. See them, embrace them, love them.

Scheduling child care for our 10 mos old and balancing motherhood with running a business!
What your biggest reward has been:
Nickelodeon reaching out and asking us if we'd be interested in partnering with Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants to develop our Kelp Burger into products for kids
Something you'd tell your younger self:
Stay in tech, it scales much more easily than CPG!

Becca Millstein, Co-Founder of Fishwife:
What your current biggest challenge is:
Building fantastic, delicious, sustainable tinned seafood at a price point that a broad swath of the country can afford — it is no small task!
What your biggest reward has been:
Having team members that blow my mind every day with their intelligence, creativity, and resourcefulness. Who are also really cool people.
Something you'd tell your younger self:
You'll never regret hard work.

Ashleigh Lockerbie, Co-Founder of Better Booch:
What your current biggest challenge is:
Prioritizing my own mental, emotional and physical health so that I can show up in all the ways I need to as a mother, wife, founder, and friend.
What your biggest reward has been:
We’ve had so many big opportunities over the lifetime of Better Booch, but what comes to mind is that I still get such a kick out of spotting someone I don’t know drinking our kombucha in public!
Something you'd tell your younger self:
Start a meditation practice and stick with it. It makes life so much more manageable and enjoyable!

What is your current biggest challenge:
Finding interesting and engaging ways to bring together our community of young people, creatives and brands
What your biggest reward has been:
Spending my time with young people creating digital experiences that reflect the world they want to see
Something you'd tell your younger self:
Keep spending your time doing things you love, even if you can't see how they might make sense together yet. Interdisciplinary practices are the future.
